BABY FEVER

I thought it was a myth. I've never wanted kids. It just seemed like such a blah thing to do, and the world's going to shit so why bring someone into this place? Just so I have someone to take care of me when I'm old? Ick. Nope. No thank you. ... Then it happened. Like a light switch. I find myself gazing lovingly at pregnant women and men with babies strapped to their chests. I have dreams about being pregnant, making dinner with the kids at home waiting for him to get back from work, and SO content and happy about it all. I can't stop thinking about how beautiful our babies will be and how wonderful we will be as a pair to raise them. How smart and hilarious and musically inclined they'll be. How happy their memories of childhood will be with us to guide them. What happened? The biological clock is strong. I really thought I was safe. And now this. Phew, it's a lot to take in.

Don't do it....if I could go back I would never get married and never have kids.....all you do if argue with your spouse and get taken for granted by everyone....and spend all your time in the kitchen

Same here

I just hit 34 and I’m going through the same exact thing! I could have written the exact thing, right down to the musical aptitude.

Funny how you're getting a negative rating. goes to show how un-family oriented this city can be sometimes. I hear and read so many reasons why someone shouldn't start a family yet, but I don't think I've read or heard anything positive or pointing out the healthy benefits to having a family. Why? No idea. Anyway my point is I love your post and I'm 100% there too. My family was poor and very stressed (not saying you will be and not saying this is ideal at all if you can avoid it), but I'm still happy to be alive and here on this earth, I also love my mom to pieces and I think she did an amazing job loving and caring for us. I also don't know anyone that didn't grow up with a family that didn't struggle one way or another, and I'm sure they're still happy to be here too.

I had this too

The Biological clock is very real. It is in place to continue the species. I did have children and I'm really glad I did, but they were certainly a handful and not all the things you are dreaming of.

"My family was poor and very stressed (not saying you will be and not saying this is ideal at all if you can avoid it), but I'm still happy to be alive and here on this earth" - yeah, I bet kids from Somalia, Syria< Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, Venezuela etc. can say the same, eh ...
I know the comparison is pushed to the extreme, but in the end, unless you're part of the 1%, your kids will be their slaves. Yeah, they'll live a better life than those from the countries I just mentioned, but in the end it's all the same. And I won't even mention overpopulation, climate change etc.

I seem to be going in the opposite direction and I'm 31. Id rather adopt a bunch of dogs. I think it's because I've worked closely with two different bosses with children who are struggling. Or I see friends my age with kids, who even tho they love their kids, are incredibly unhappy with their lives. It's even harder imagining having a kid in this city. Hard enough having a dog.

I can't help
