F*ck all fireworks. Van city is dying.

Yesterday for at least 9 hours there were fireworks going off all around my neighbourhood. Full size explosions on top of houses and on the street. The barrage of gun and bomb sounds made me want to scream. The toxic smoke enveloped everything. How the fuck can this be legal? During BCs worst fires, drought and record setting poor air quality they set off a 'festival' of fireworks. Vancouver is beyond ubsurd. The SHAMEFUL demise of housing sold off as investment and pollution in this 'green' city has become intolerable. We can not participate in the blind leading the blind anymore. Please be a good human and take responsibility for your environment. No more fireworks- no more foreign investment- no more payola politicians. Let's reduce the fuckery. Thank you.

I take it your not from around here originally.. years ago there used to be cars flipped over, police helicopters all over on Halloween, it was an absolute gong show, especially in the burbs. My parents tell me there used to be mini riots on Halloween in the 60's.

I find things are actually much calmer now than say 20 years ago. I think it's great, people are out having fun! yes it gets a bit annoying when the odd one goes off at 1 am when trying to sleep, but hey it is Halloween.

Stop being so sensitive, get over yourself. I'm not a fan of the way this city is going, I've lived here my whole life. Fireworks going off are a reminder to better times, if anything.

While foreign investors are a problem, the reality is that as well, everybody from all over Canada wants to live here.. we have people from the Maritimes, Alberta, Ontario, etc. etc. That is a huge reason for the shortage of housing.. I meet so many people that moved here from elsewhere in Canada.. it really is supply and demand, and add in the ability for foreigners to buy our land like a monopoly board, laundering money at times.

You are almost as bad as that guy who was on CBC the other day, trying to get a petition signed to ban fireworks on Halloween.. lol.. i'll bet both of you have a great sense of humour...lol.. oh and by the way, smoke from firecrackers on one night a year is F all in the big scheme of things.. and the air quality/fires is not relevant, you are still stuck in the last season..

relax, have a drink..

I have many not so kind words to say to you but I'm not going to say all of them. It's people like you that brand this city "No-Fun-City." Go live in a bubble somewhere else. There are people who like to get dirty in this city and you're pissing us off. Let us have our fun.

No Fun City?

The housing crises and climate change aside, Halloween is one day of the year. Don't be such a No Fun Vancouverite. Clearly the issues in the city are pushing you to your limits if you're are lashing out at kids having fun, go get some professional help.

Fireworks Hate...

Lots of people seem fairly jaded about this. Kids like fireworks. I could take them or leave them, but I am not a kid. I remember watching fireworks on halloween in Vancouver as a kid, and it was a bit of fun. The general level of pollution has to d with the number of cars and exhaust from heating systems, not fireworks for a little bit every year.

Fireworks are part of the holiday. The only fuckery here is your bad attitude.

I agree that the fireworks have to stop by midnight. They were going off 5 days in a row and shooting off at 1 and 2 am that is not cool for people who have to work in the morning. Even the City says it has to stop by 12 am but I don't see the police enforcing it at all.
