Modest Proposal

We check references for jobs and tenancy and we vet kinky people to make sure they're the right kind of crazy. Why not have references for dating? If nothing else, this might encourage us to be civil at the end of a love affair. I've offered to be a character witness for a few exes but it's not really a thing. Maybe vetting lovers should be a thing?
Just spitballing here. Any thoughts?

A comments section for dating. What could possibly go wrong?

To an extent I agree. If this was a thing I would not have ended up in an emotionally abusive relationship with a man for 3 years. He had exes that were "selfish and evil" and a son he never saw.
Yes sir

I've offered references to a couple of exes too.
Sometimes it helps set trust up faster.
No thanks

I'm sure my abusive ex would LOVE to continue fucking with my life. This idea sounds like my definition of hell.
Yes!!!

There is nothing stopping you from setting up a website for this purpose, a database of reviews of people as human beings and partners. "Squeezed tooth-paste from middle of tube." "Wiped front to back." "Hung toilet paper away from wall." "Snored." "Forgot to flush a few times." Etc.
People could have credit scores, it would encourage them to behave properly--and you could use fingerprints or facial recognition or something to ensure nobody cheats! Tho I guess they could wear wigs.
