Gotta move

I want to move out. My roommate is making me so fucking uncomfortable. Constantly talking to me never leaves me alone. Totally a weird clingy person and I need out. I've been hiding in my room every day. If I even come out for a second they will talk my ear off.

Sounds like you're incompatible. You spin this as if they are weird. Probably not actually weird. My roommate talks to me a lot, and it's awesome of her.

Why not try a different tactic?

You could use your voice and ask for some space, You know - assert your needs. That might be less drastic than moving.

Maybe it's a temp thing

Maybe they're not normally like that... maybe they've had some bad stuff happen (breakup, death, getting fired, etc) and are just feeling really depressed & lonely.
You could explain your side by saying something like, "I get that you want to hang out & talk lots, but I really need some more time by myself. I dont want to hurt your feelings and I hope you will understand.

Good luck.

It's hard

I know it's not an easy thing to do, but have you tried just talking to them about this? It sounds like they're just very lonely and they aren't understanding that they're infringing on your personal space. What if you just sat down with them and told them in a kind and respectful way, that you feel overwhelmed by what they're doing? It may hurt their feelings, but at the same time it may help them, and you, to be able to avoid having to actually move.

Maybe they are anxious about having a roommate as well and they want you to feel welcome so they just talk a lot. Moving doesn’t seem like the best idea, especially in Vancouver

Poor you! First world problem if EVER I heard one. The other first world problem that should be matched to this for a positive result is ALL the single, terribly lonely seniors who have no one to talk to for years! ;) To all those who suggest this person just set boundaries and communicate them. Sometimes, especially in Vancouver, people just want their roommates' share of the rent. Having anything to do with them beyond that is far too unreasonable for their "quality of life".
