Too many cowards in this city

and you make me ashamed to be a citizen here. Just read the amazing story of a young man named Jake Taylor who intervened and stopped a very nasty hate crime from happening on the Skytrain. Kudos to Jake, you are awesome. But the sad part of this story are all the other cowardly passengers who did nothing to assist this poor woman, did not hit the yellow emergency strip, did not use the emergency intercom and most certainly did not step in as brave Jake did. You should all be ashamed of yourselves!

Says the coward expressing their views online instead of putting on the ol punisher outfit to fight crime.

The cops caught the guy. Jake is a hero nuff said.

There's a term for it

Its called Genovese Syndrome. It's a real thing. It comes from the psychology that people think someone else will step in at some point. Sounds like Jake did eventually. Good for him. Yes, people are sheep. It's pathetic.

Why should I risk getting killed or stabbed/losing an eye by knife?
What's in it for me?

If you haven't noticed

There have been a lot of good samaritans in Vancouver and Toronto who have been killed, unfortunately.

I suppose it is easy to be judgmental behind a computer, but I bet you would have froze too.

When I was assaulted

Dec 7, 2017 at 8:59pm

No one helped. It was terrifying- I was assaulted in 711 for no reason and I actually had to go behind the counter & grab the phone & call 911 myself because the clerk refused to "get involved "

The police did not help me at all when they came even though I had the perpetrators cab # & license plate late number.

It's very scary being a woman sometimes & I really hope more people can help when they see people being assaulted/ attacked. I know I will because I have been there!

I'm not surprised. It's Vancouver. People here just don't give a sh*t.

Living in a society where you aren't constantly having to fend for your own survival. Pretty decent perk, but if you don't like it, please GTFO.

Interesting situation

I wasn't there so it's hard to say. I probably wouldn't have intervened unless I thought she was going to be hit.

There's a cost/benefit analysis. Any intervention by me is an escalation of an already bad situation. Would this tip the loony into violence?

Sure, it's ugly to have someone yelling racist nonsense, but, uh...I have had racist nonsense said to me, and I lived! It's not assault.

I'd like to think that if there was actual physical violence then I'd have done something. It would be a real character tester, that's for sure.

Can I sneak a confession in here as well? I'm strangely relieved that someone has been arrested. It validates that the incident is real. If this was a false allegation, the blowback would have been absolutely enormous.
