Rock n Roll

It's not bad. It's actually pretty good. There's many songs you would love if you just listened to it. The world is riddled with the shitty rap and hip hop music and rock n roll is not being covered by the media as much as it should. Rock n roll is about sex, drugs and rock n roll which scares people or gives them a bad mental image but rap and hip hop does the same but it's just not labeled as "sex, drugs and hip hop/rap". Gangsta rap and crap like that promotes the same thing as rock n roll but additionally there's guns and killing involved with the hip hop/rap scene. Rock n roll is about having a good fucking time with sex, drugs and rock n roll music..That's it. Just that. In the 80's everyone had a GREAT time, myself excluded because I was born mid-way through. If you just listened to the guitars, drums, bass and voice you would very soon take a liking to it. It's NOT noise. It's raw and it's real. These bands actually SING a song and tell you a story about something sexual (mostly). This city thrives on casual sex and this music would be best for this city. The attitude rock n roll conveys is mostly a dirty, sexy vibe considering there's a plethora of sexual innuendo's attached to most songs stories. I can only suggest you give rock n roll a chance. Find a person who is hardcore into rock n roll and detests hip hop/rap (like me) and you will find a new sound...and maybe a new soundtrack for your life. AC/DC is by far my most favorite band ever! EVER! I have not heard anyone say they don't like AC/DC....Don't listen to the media. Discover your own music. Everyone still has some rock n roll in them...you just have to ignite the spark again. Let's bring Rock N Roll back to Vancouver!!!!! No! Let's bring Rock N Roll back to the world!!!!!!!

You beat me to it. I'm guessing you heard on the news that for the first time ever, hip-hop/ rap outsold Rock and Roll albums worldwide, right? I was really depressed when I heard.
I probably sound like an out of touch old man who just doesn't "get it," but I'm only 36. I was a kid when hip-hop and rap were really taking off and all the "cool" kids in my school were getting into it.
But not me.
I've always hated that crap. I don't care if it means I don't fit in. I think these people are no-talent dipshits who can't sing, play an instrument or do anything but say the N-word or F-word while machine music plays in the background. I actually like other styles of music, but rock and roll is king. I don't care if its the Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Danko Jones or the Black Keys. I love it all. Any era. Any sub-genre.
Its depressing how billions of people fall for that putrid crap. I tried listening to Kanye West once, and it was about as pleasurable as being stabbed in the ear with an ice pick. Eminem sounds like nails being raked down a blackboard and the rest of it (Nicki Minaj, Cardi B etc.) are all repulsive and more offensive than anything in rock music. I wish I could re-enact the Sex Bob-omb vs.Katayanagi Twins battle of the bands scene from the Scott Pilgrim movie whenever I'm forced to hear any rap/hip hop "music."

You're gonna get large majority of thumbs down,as Vancouver is overrun with millenial (yet think mainstream rock is just a sell out and unworthy) hipsters and man hating (all sex is rape) feminists.

Sounds like a stereotypical white dude who plays guitar in a band. I was surrounded by these dudes when I played in bands when I was a teenager and in my early 20s. I’m a woman of colour and I always had to hear from these dudes about how rap and hip hop was garbage. The racist undertones were real.

White people high jacked rock and roll from black people. Get your own ideas.

Now if I said you sound like a stereotypical ____ person, seeing "racist undertones" everywhere, I wonder if that would be OK.

I'm not really into hiphop or rock'n roll but I can appreciate both. It's all a matter of taste. There is crappy music and good music of any type. The most innovative, experimental musicians get inspiration from all genres of music. You can find beauty where you don't expect if you keep an open mind. You could have talked about your love for rock'n roll without denigrating hiphop. The negativity reflects badly on you, and isn't going to encourage people to try rock'n roll.

my first records when i was young were rock n roll. when rap started developing in the 80s, i fully embraced it. i listened to it as much / more than rock, metal, punk, etc. within the past 5 or 6 years, i let it go. current state of most rap isn't rap, but is content, which the world is overflowing with, like a garbage can that is too full. rock music is also overflowing in abundance. it's not racist to admit that it's crap. and that rock was stolen from blacks is an arguable point, because it suggests that rock n roll is concrete and can't evolve. there has been a constant exchange if you were to deeply study the evolution of american music, particularly in the deep south and texas. yes, there has been much co-opted, but it's not mutually exclusive.
i'm also part white and think the original post sounds like a 12 year old wrote it.

I agreed with every word except the part about AC/DC. I actually really don’t like them. They are boring as hell.
