Greenest City

No Recycling containers for bottles or cans in skytrain stations, because that would cost too much, salt covering the road today because people can't give up their cars for a day and bc hydro has record breaking demand because turning up the heat is easier than putting on an extra sweater. Environmentalism in Vancouver is the perfect example of NIMBYism.

Is it really so unreasonable for people to wait until they leave the station to throw away their bottles and cans? How many skytrains don't have recycling bins somewhere on the street nearby? Surely if you can carry it into the station you can carry it back out when it's empty.

And no, not everyone can just give up their cars for the day. Even if they did, staying home isn't an option for most people. Even if everyone could somehow just stay home for the day, emergency vehicles would still need to be on the roads.

What an idiotic collection of concepts.
Recycling isn’t possible because people who take water bottles on transit can’t be responsible for their own garbage?
Everyone in the province has access to transit that is compatible with their needs? I had to go into Vancouver today to pick up about 500 pounds of stuff that I bought to re-purpose, could the original complainer suggest my transit options from Langley?
People turn up their heat inside because it’s colder outside? My thermostat is at the same temperature in June as it is in February, the demand is higher because it is colder and darker, not because we turn up the heat.
This column has changed from Confessions to Whines and it is too bad these people have a vehicle for their inanities.

transit should not have bins because, as the brits found out long ago, bombs are easily concealed in bins.
