I don't feel good about the world anymore

There's just so much moral decay. It looks like there is a march to destroy everything that once had meaning and the only thing that matters is money. What happened to culture? Big banks and consumers will be happy... except nobody will truly be happy.

When there is more competition, there is less time to think about morality...When people need to struggle to get the basics covered, it's downhill from there. What I don't understand are the people who have kids when they can barely take care of themselves.

There's nothing good about it.

You should watch "KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov's warning to America" on YouTube. But the same moral decay and corruption was going on in the Roman Empire just before it crumbled too. It's how civilizations come to their end.

Thanks. I did not see this.

It is eerily accurate... Scary.

It's not the consumers who will be happy. If so, then almost everyone would be happy, right? Happy is happy, as for "truly happy" you should not assume others are not.

Creating makes me happy, consuming does too. I don't work for or own a big bank, but happy is a choice. Make it. This comment is has record use of the word happy. Happy to help.

You're just getting jaded because you're getting older and you've seen so much The world has always been in upheaval. It's hard to believe but the last 50 years have been the most peaceful on earth. Cultures change morally. Remember the roaring 20's or dirty 30's? Then things became more conservative until the 60's. It'll get so out of hand a next generation will want change. That's how it's always been.

This all depends on how you define "peace." A big problem today is that people don't understand that war is defined, at least by Cicero, as "contention by force." So, if Constable stops you for jaywalking, that's war, he's contending by force. If the HR department forces you out of a job because you told a joke, that's contention by force. If your University denies you further studies because you made someone "feel uncomfortable" and prohibits you from entering campus, that's contention by force.

I would argue that we have more violence than ever today, especially due to the monopoly on roads that cars have. Until the Automobile companies purchased the bylaws excluding "jay walkers" from roadways, people could cross diagonally, walk in the road, etc. etc.

Censorship is an act of war. We have more censorship today than ever---using the Internet today is far different than using it in the 1990s. In the 1990s, we had discussions like Confessions, newsgroups. Some were moderated, but most were not. One of the longest-lasting "popular" tech websites, slashdot, had no moderation except downvoting comments so that they did not appear, but no real comment removal.

As for the idea that morality changes, morality does not change. Timeless moral and spiritual values are the bedrock of our British Empire. If you mention things like that in a University classroom today, you will usually get snorts of derision, but it is true.

Men and women of upright backbone must defend our timeless moral and spiritual values. We must rule in the midst of our enemies.

So who died and put Cicero in charge? A cop stopping you from jaywalking is war? Please. Nonsense.
