It's in the eyes

Whenever I see a selfie with a couple or a group, I like to follow where peoples eyes are looking. In a couple's selfie, I like to see that the guy is looking at the girl on the screen and vice versa, as opposed to in the lens. A group selfie is even more telling - who is looking at someone else in the group instead of the lens? What does that mean? Anyway, check it out the next time you look at a group selfie. You might be surprised.

Bad, old advise

Don't listen to the offers of advice from so called experts. "If he isn't looking you in the eyes he isn't listening". "If his arms are crossed he doesn't like you".....this is all nonsense.

What does it mean?

It means your looking far too deeply into things. People can be captured looking at anyone or any direction for any number of things.

Depends

If it's a candid photo, then you might have a point. But if people are posing for the camera, then it's not very reliable.

It's not black and white, but my experience is that people who dismiss this stuff 100% are really pushy and simply use these cues without knowing it---sort of like slow people who just don't have anyone stand up to them, because nobody is going to stand up to a mentally challenged person. Well, not today anyway.

Body language certainly matters, body language is common to all animals in some sense, where speech is common only to humans. The fact is that lots of people are very violent with their body language, and they expect people to get out of their way/stop talking/obey them. Whether they're aware of it is another question. If you don't believe me, and you have the blessing of bad eyesight, take off your glasses and see if it makes a difference---they've trained you well, but blindness is a gift from God =]
