Not everyone is a Narcissist

I’m so tired of hearing about all of the so-called narcissists that so many people complain about. Definitely there are some people that would genuinely be classified as having NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), but certainly not everyone. In fact, it’s a very difficult disorder to accurately diagnose, since the majority of people have at least some narcissistic tendencies at times. What I find almost amusing is that it’s so common for the people who call another person a narcissist for whatever reason are often displaying as many, or more, narcissistic behaviours as the person they are accusing! Before being so quick to label someone a narcissist, please people, do some serious research into this disorder (it’s widely available online) and you will probably learn that even YOU have narcissistic behaviour at times. One of the biggest clues that could pinpoint a person with genuine NPD is that they almost never look for psychiatric or other psychological help such as counseling on their own. Usually the only time you’d find such a person in a therapist’s office is when they’ve been dragged there by a frustrated partner.

Something is a medical "disorder" only if it's perceived as a problem.
Most narcissists do not perceive their behaviour as a problem. This does not imply that they are not narcissists.
Do not dismiss what you don't know

Anyone suffering abuse in a relationship, seek help from those who know NPD. The damage comments like this person maker or counsellors may cause you permanent harm. You obviously have never been involved with someone with NPD. You are correct everyone can be on Narcissistic spectrum, however it is the extremes that are the problem. It is pure hell dealing with these people. I know unfortunately I have to deal with one. They are evil destructive people. Lying, cheating, con-artists who launch smear campaigns. Who often haunt thier victims for many years after.
Selfish people

Wong! Not only have I got extensive experience with someone who actually DOES fit the clinical diagnosis for NPD, I’ve also had extensive training in the field. My point is that NPD is being thrown around by everyone lately, as if every person who doesn’t fit into the mould that’s prescribed by their partner, friend, or family member is automatically a narcissist. It’s just not true. It’s a vast spectrum of characteristics, at least some of which would describe almost everyone that you know. All I’m saying is that people should take the time to do their research before they label another person or make erroneous assumptions.

Well the person who claim they have training in this field present himself or herself anonymous and don’t disclose what type of training and your so called knowledge you received and where did you study? Yes there is plenty of information on the internet but not all sources are ligitimate. I’d rather trust people and experiences that we share in common than some bogus statement on the internet that claim that they are “specialist” on that topic. What is your level of experience and education on NPD? Are you professional and certified counselor? I agree not all abusers suffer from NPD but all abusers share similar traits with personality disorders such as borderline, sociopathy or psychopathy.
