A friend in need ... needs friends

It would be so much easier to help you through this legitimate crisis if you hadn't used all our time and energy crying wolf and resenting us for your mistakes before. You have no credibility, but a real need right now. We'll get you through it, but you have got to start owning your problems

Oh, you are so gracious. Please allow me to grovel at your feet, that I a mere lowly peasant in your magnificence am unworthy to kiss, oh great and magnificent one!

A real friend is a listening ear without telling, expecting, or forcing them what to do or say. You are not a real friend but a douche

Your frustion is heard

And I hope you revise your mindset. You'll probably add to the problem of said friend if you come on with coldness, or risk being condescending. A friend in need needs empathy first, thoughtful empathy! I've seen people's demons in all sorts of walks of life though, and yes; the seemingly petty ones of and those of self-sabotage are the most incredibly frustrating experiences to witness or live through.

Whaaaaaatever Maaaaaaan....! I think most of us just do this shit to stall for time. Maybe let the fears die down a little, I dunno.

this is awful

you sound like you think disingenuously helping someone while also not believing them(crying wolf) is a good thing?

you sound awful and whoever you think needs you probably doesn't.

Awful friend you are

They are best to handle problems without a toxic person like you. A friend is there no matter what, without judgement. Hope your friend stays away from you abusive people in time of need.

I won't go!!!

There once was a person who'd jaunt
Over to GS confessions to haunt
Posting poetry so appalling
It's become a new calling
I can stop anytime that I want!

But you speak so much like an enemy.

@I won't

Thanks for remembering my style
But you haven't gone the whole mile
If you want to be me
You must write about D
And her most wonderful tits

Yeah, it's a weird thing

you're not really a friend to the person obviously, but somehow you got sucked into the friend circle when there was a crisis.
This has happened to me recently and it's not a great thing. I was merely an acquaintance (part of a larger circle of friends/acquaintances) who offered support but that support was confused by the needy party to be a true friendship and now I feel I'm on the hook to be a friend to someone who sadly is in dire circumstances even though we were never actually 'friends'. This person is not someone I particularly care for and is a notorious whiner who has a history of feeling sorry for herself. But now she has a real health crisis and a genuine need for support. So I can understand that these things are complex.
