Gender Wars

There are a small number of people on the left and right feeding the fire of the gender wars. The rest of us just want a semi-normal relationship with people of the opposite sex. Most dudes aren’t predators and most women aren’t radical, men hating feminists ... so I say let’s stop giving them the constant platform to troll their divisiveness!

You speak truth

I always thought I was pretty left-leaning. Then someone showed me an article...a writer that epitomizes what the alt-right calls the looney left. Yup, pretty sure that politically I'm a centrist. Like 99% of the rest of us.

Except there are all the guys who commented on the “No one knows” post who seem to be be the majority of males on this board. Makes me want to give up on the whole gender.

I agree. The Straight promotes the left wing. They block so many posts with right wing leanings.

The reality is somewhere in the middle.

Sorry, not true...

... I mean, not fully true, anyway. The simple fact is that the radical neomarxist feminists basically control the Universities and HR departments. The idea that you can just "keep your head down" is false. If they want to crucify you, they will. They can destroy your life. If you aren't aware of this, well, lucky you.

I agree that most people are not radical neomarxists, but enough are, in enough positions of power and privilege, to have more or less corrupted the institutions that they infest.

You need to stop talking about Marxism. It’s really boring and as soon as I see that word I stop reading.

I mostly agree with you, I would much rather focus on other topics, but the problem is that ignoring a political ideology that has destruction of western values like individuality and freedom does not make it go away.

This is a real, live political issue: at Laurier University last night, a talk was scheduled, it was protested by all sorts of neomarxists, and to prevent the speaker, Faith Goldy, from speaking, they pulled a fire alarm. That endangers people's lives. A fire alarm is for fire, not for "political speech I dislike."

So I wish we could ignore these issues, but the obvious situation is that our Universities, our public Universities, have for some time been run like private corporations where the "management" decide who can say what, on the pretext that they have some messianic duty to "prevent people from being offended." This is mostly so that they can lower academic standards and sell degrees to people who really are not broad-minded enough for academic freedom, which includes the freedom to hold a view that is held by nobody else. Academic freedom is singular, for individuals, it is not about group identity, except that the academy is the group that defends the academic freedom of its members.

In any state or organization, find the people who want to tell you what you cannot say, what you cannot wear, what you cannot do. Those are the people who need the most scrutiny.

The problem isn't the men.
