The problem you are missing is that the wealthy immigrants aren't spending money in the community, they are parking their capital here while living their lives in other parts of the globe.
The government needs to realize there are wealthy people around the globe that want to invest in Canada. What we need is investment in rental stock, laws should written to encourage investment in rental stock and discourage capital parking in large single family homes whose required break-even rental price don't make sense.

Maybe they put a cork on immigration until the economy settles into something more than personal debt+real estate swindles.
Of course Trudeau could never allow anything but the most groovy, coolest possible course which will mean hundreds of thousands people flooding into the nation and driving everyone crazy.
