Realist or pessimist?

I honestly think we are beyond the point of no return. Destroying everything is not slowing down and none of us give a fuck. Do I keep trying? Cutting down on showers, eating less meat, taking the bus, sorting my recycling? Or do I just enjoy the calm before the storm and fly the Vegas for weekends and buy slave made fast fashion while replacing my iPhone every year so workers keep killing themselves over the conditions all while clean drinking water disappears. This is both the most privileged and scariest time in history.

Choices

The only thing scarier is that most people believe our only choice is to remain either willingly or unwillingly ignorant.

I have to agree with you. I don't see the harm in trying to preserve the environment by doing the things you're doing but at the end of the day it will make very little difference. The Canadian pop is 35 million and even if every one of those people does every thing in their power to preserve the environment it will amount to a drop in the bucket. The simple truth is that there are far too many people on this planet and the pop keeps growing every year. Coupled with the huge growth in consumption in places like China and India where there are hundreds of millions that now want to live the same lifestyle that N Americans live, you have a recipe for environmental collapse. I'm sure that the planet will be largely uninhabitable within the next 100 years. Sorry to be a Debbie downer but it is what it is.

I give a fuck

I will still carry on making my small impact, but with too many not caring at the end of the day I know it’s useless.

Me Too

I've made a life long effort to keep my carbon foot print as low as someone in the west can, but I'm starting to feel like it's a lost cause, also. Noone seems to care especially the babyboomers and they hold so much of the power and wealth. They're like oversized children living life in the moment and satisfying their every whim. Babyboomers, the most selfish generation.

heh

Aww, we're just tiny little specks. Boo hoo. Everybody loves to feel like the victim. We're not responsible for the messes our ancestors got us in. But we're all responsible for ourselves. I'll be vegan with or without you.

I don't think it matters a hoot what I do. I don't fly in planes and own yachts like the billionaires who are at the "top" hell bent on destroying mankind.

I don't litter. That's because I can see the result. Imaginary statistical "scientific proof" of global warming etc means zilch to me.

As if your only choices are doing your part OR throwing in the towel completely and ceding to the polar opposite perspective / behaviour. Why not up the ante and be even more proactive in your kindness to mother Gaia e.g. protest, write a petition and get 10,000 peeps to sign it, write the PMO etc. You've only scratched the surface so far. Time to dig deeper sweetpea.
