So, the VPD and City really outdid themselves at Robson Square. At least two police cruisers, prob. a half-dozen City Engineering employees, loads of cops. All for...nobody! Nobody showed up because the last round of arrests was really scary for the protesters. One protester, MediKatie, was taken down for a warrant for an "obstruction" charge out of prior protesting in Surrey---she says she got the Crown to stay proceedings, but not without additional anxiety and stress. The threat of arrest/confiscation of goods under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (the same one VPD refuses to use to investigate the City "licensed" dispensaries paying their $30k kickbacks...) has been enough to drive most of the protesters away. So, this is what Legalization will look like---I am sure the 4/20 Vancouver thing will eventually come to some sort of compromise with the City, and everyone who can (or wants to) incorporate can make money, but it isn't legalization. We shall see how the next 4/20 Farmer's Market Holiday, BC Bud Day, goes...
