The Borg Continuum

When I read these post about being checked out or approached by a person in a public space I can't help and think what these delicate flower's would do with themselves if they were in Italy, Portugal France? In Italy, Portugal or France people check one another out. What they are wearing, who they are with, what flavour of ice cream they are eating and yes they check one another's asses out. It's so apart of the culture the Italians make it a part of their day. They go out after supper and check one another out. What would a Vancouverite do, stop and yell " I won't be objectified!!"? They have this natural curiosity that's been snuffed out here. They behave like humans. Do you have any idea how ridiculous and boring you have all become? You're becoming robots.

It's becoming oppressive and joyless.

Really, in No Fun Vancouver? There's a reason it has it's reputation.

Thank you! The thought police have frightened everyone into becoming droids who are afraid they may offend someone by saying or doing the wrong thing.

The happiest countries are Scandinavian (Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland), Switzerland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia. A country with more cat calling than warranted is the UK at 19th. When Latin countries top the world happiness index, this poster can come back and tell us how being harassed makes women happy.

Female creep

Men in France and Quebec make eye contact with me and smile when I am very platonically and innocently checking out the cool t-shirt they're wearing or what flavour ice cream they're having. I am always taken aback when this happens because I thought I was being an invisible observer. When I'm outside of Vancouver, I have to remind myself not to look like I'm staring too much. In Vancouver, I can sit and smile and admire a guy for 20 minutes straight just to watch him get up and walk away. Do female creeps exist? I sure feel like one here. Some guys shrink into their seats or turn away from me when I try to give a compliment.

But that's why I live in Canada. People have a bit of class

I find people in Vancouver miserable. If we're going to play the study game, according to Stats Canada, Vancouver is the least happiest place in Canada. Some will claim it's the housing crisis but in my 25 years of living here I find it's the same vibe I've always gotten from the people.

Don't mistake being repressed and dull with being 'classy'. Pull the curtain back and Canadians are a boorish lot. The polite facade falls away when they are overseas and they can get away with being themselves. I've seen the most appalling behaviour elsewhere.
