Candid camera!

For a long time I've suspected my landlord, who just so happens to be my aunt, was coming into my suite (I rent her basement suite) when I wasn't home. She admitted to doing it to previous tenants and even her own step-son, so why wouldn't she do it to me? Well, last week, after living here for 5 years, I bought a security camera. Low and behold, on Monday afternoon, I caught her and her friend (a neighbour from across the street) come into my suite and snoop around! Without my permission and without 24-hour written notice. What really outrages me the most, though, is the fact that she brought a complete stranger into my suite. A stranger who I don't even associate with. This person could've stolen anything.

It's actually 48 hours notice they owe you.

Time to put a stop to this...

You can confront her and warn her of your legal rights as a tenant or you can report her to the police for trespassing and to RTB.

That's why I try never to do any sort of business, work, rent, etc... with family. Its hard to quit/pull out, even if you need to, and the undue pressure and obligation that invariably comes with family can poison things right quick.
I'd change the lock and see how long it takes for her to freak out
Good luck!

Awesome!

You could install a kinky dungeon in your place and see how she reacts. If you go extreme enough, maybe it'll scare her away.

Not cool

My tenant downstairs says that I can just knock and go in anytime. I refuse. I reminder HER about her rights and only go in with a text messages or something that says it’s okay. I don’t always stick to the 48 hour rule but only cause she doesn’t care.

Better to do those thing above board at all times!

I did this,I mounted an airhorn behind the door so when it's opened enough it goes off.

what have you got to hide from your Aunt? Have you asked her about this? Do you even acknowledge the fact that you could also rent somewhere else that your family doesn't own? Are you prepared to pay market for what you probably pay a family rate for? Plus, she is always and forever will be an agent for your mom or dad. WHOOOOOOOOO

a swing and a speaker. Talk to them next time. Set them up, take a pic. Use your imagination, have some fun. Give them something to see for chrissakes, their small lives are calling out for it.

When she asks about it, ask her how she knew and why it matters?
