Excuse me while I wipe away the tears

A financial post column on financial advice had me sobbing about the dilemma of a couple approaching retirement who are struggling to make ends meet on measly take home pay of $9500 a month. Included in their monthly budget was an item under "gift giving " of $1650 ... per month , every month. Go and get fucked... with stupid stories like this we don't need any fake news

Then maybe you owe them something.. mutual respect. Or.... did you think they just owed you something via magic?

It's the financial post, it's conservative, what did you expect? The post loves to create a hysteria about finances so you run out and invest in financial services and help their pals get even richer. Down size and spend half the year some place warm and inexpensive. Canada is as dull as dishwater, you won't regret it.

You're upset because

someone is doing better than you. The retirement column in the FP isn't about survival, it's about being able to retire in the manner you lived. These are not people asking where the government is going to house them, these written for people who have lived a middle class or better life style are and looking at retirement.

For those of us who own a home, contribute to our RRSP and TFSA, but don't have DP pension plans, retirement is a big concern. Look at the new government housing project they are talking about in Vancouver this year, they max out at 80K house hold income. That means even a couple making 20/hour each isn't eligible.
