Not affordable anymore

I remember when admission to the Richmond night market used to be free. Then admission became $1 then jumped to $2, then $2.50..and so on. That was reasonable considering I'd spend another $30-40 just on food since it adds up. Admission is just under $5.00 per person now and it's a shame because I think of all the families who can't afford that. If anything, admission should be similar to single bus fare price. Why would I take the skytrain down with my family and pay another $5 each for admission THEN pay more for food? It's so expensive. While I support community events like this, it's getting a bit ridiculous. For the amount a family ends up spending, you might as well take your family for a nice dinner elsewhere. I think I'll pass this year.

Hate the idea of paying money to pay money to eat. The admission fee, and the lineup to get in, definitely are a deterrent for me to go to the Richmond Night Market. I usually end up spending at least $30 to eat standing up in a sea of people hoping I don’t skewer my own cheek if someone bumps into me. I like the energy of the night market, but I also can eat well, properly sitting down, somewhere else for much much cheaper. I’m finding all these “events” that charge money really draining and too crowded and lacking in something. I sometimes go home and question if I really had $50+ worth of fun and food. The answer is usually No.

For fucks sake everyone in the night market can afford to pay 10 dollars or more otherwise it wouldn't be full every weekend.
