Sadly you have learnt a lesson the hard way. I learnt long ago that you can depend on no one one in this world but yourself. Family and friends will eventually all let you down.

Sounds like you don't know and are asking yourself how and why with this person. Don't prejudge them, ask them. It's easier if you can do it.

One of the most painful life experiences is having your heart broken like that. You genuinely feel broken and the pain makes you think that you can’t survive it. I promise you that you can though. It may take a long time but it will gradually become less of a pain and more of a dull ache. Eventually you’ll stop feeling it at all. Allow yourself time to grieve but try not to let yourself stay in that dark place. Accepting endings is something we all have to do, so work on how you can best do that.

People are evil, and that is why this sort of behavior is sanctioned, why you're being told to "get over it," etc. Breach of trust should be a crime.
