Celebrate bravery

It is right to celebrate the bravery of soldiers who fought in battles especially in the World Wars. We should also celebrate the bravery of ordinary civilians who lived through these wars and survived, especially in occupied countries.

the Great Generation for a reason. This relatively modern "our troops protect our freedom" crap is different. People sign up for the opportunities not for the sacrifice. You are not fighting for Canadian freedom in Afghanistan no matter how you spin it. I'd much prefer a domestic force, working to alleviate the damage from floods, fire and the like. Put 100s of thousands of young people into our own country. Building experience, comeraderie, and contributing to make this a better place. Even give free education to those that serve. Graduate with actual experience, ability to work with others and a sense of mission that values the benefits of doing a job that contributes. Tall order? Only because we make it so.
