I hate my job

It’s the most toxic environment I have ever encountered. It’s emotionally and mentally abusive; I’ve held on for so long; because there have been a few good days sprinkled in. How fucked up is that? If I could walk away and not worry about my bills I would. I’m just waiting for the day I walk out the door and never come back. Fingers crossed, it’s very very soon.

Not worth it!

Start looking for something new right now. It not worth the cost to your health to stay in a job that is causing you so much anguish. Trust me, I know only too well how damaging it can be. Years and years of constant stress from working in very toxic work places, and I just learned that I have stage IV cancer. It’s too late for me to change my life now. I know it’s not easy to find a decent job that pays enough to live in this ridiculous place, but even if you have to move away it’s better than throwing away your life for a paycheque.

The greatest scam that the 1%-ers ever pulled on us is convincing us that working for them is imperative to our survival. Get the hell out of there. This is where you spend the majority of your life and such ongoing misery is not worth it. If you have to work, you can work somewhere else. I was in your position not too long ago and ended up with a massive drinking problem that bled itself into my working days, just to deal with how poisonous my work environment was. With some therapy and time, I now do freelance work from home. This is not as difficult as it sounds and is a burgeoning trend.

Get OUT of that place. I'm rooting for you in full solidarity. Don't ever feel you are stuck in a horrible work situation. Re-read my first sentence.

OMG do it!!! You'll feel so great after and you won't regret it. And you'll get to cleanse and be yourself after. I made the mistake once of thinking I could balance out my workplace toxicity, you can't do it forever, plus it's bad for you. Advice; don't worry to much about taking a loss right now, figure out how ei works if you're willing to use it, and leave while you can still leave on a good note of your choosing. Otherwise you risk going down the way your job wants you to (path of toxicity) and you'll lose way more. Listen to that voice of yours, It's good 4 you!

Do it

I was in the same situation once. Job in high tech, dealing with all sorts of arrogant anti-social assholes every day, non stop travel to crappy parts of the world. Jumped at a better job even though it was about a 40% pay cut at the time. Don't regret it at all. After tax, that's only a 20% difference in my pocket, so the work-life balance and less toxic work environment is more than worth it. Woo!

Make sure to go to your doctor and tell him/her. If you don't have one, go to a walk-in. Just tell them it's stressing you out. Then if the a-holes at your toxic job let you go, you can go for wrongful dismissal. In many toxic workplaces, they can smell stress and will try to push people out or lay them off if they catch wind. Protect yourself and good lunch with your job search. Get out as soon as you can. I was telling myself "once my overtime calms down, I will start looking". Well, joke was on me. To anyone se out there, learn your rights. Learn about 'duty to accomodate', 'frustration of cpntract' and other employment law basics. Learn about HRAT. If your employer is toxic and effs you over, make them pay. Literally.
