Gym etiquette
posted July 31st, 2018 at 5:57 PM
I tried politely to tell a fellow gym user in my building not to stare at his phone for 5+ minutes in between every set.
It's a small gym and you have to be courteous to your fellow neighbours.
Well, after ignoring my polite requests I simply walked over and started using the equipment after his set was done.
When he said he still had sets, I told him to look at his phone until I was done.
Yes, I know it's all completely childish and unnecessary but such is life when you share it with assholes.

Childish, that is. He’s incredibly inconsiderate, just like far too many people are. I can’t stand that attitude and when I encounter it (pretty much all the time now), I react exactly like you. They’re the ones with the problem, not you!
Thank you for doing that

You did the right thing. Not childish at all. Your time is valuable; glad you protect it.

Well done! I moved here from another city where everyone accommodated people “working in” while they rested between sets. When I first moved here I asked someone at the gym if I could work in and they looked at me as though I was high. Gym etiquette does not exist in this city.

Fuck that guy. This hogging-the-equipment-only-to-play-on-the-smartphone nonsense is happening too frequently. I'm on Team You.

Like people are doing this is single use public bathrooms. Sometimes i wait for 20 minutes for a bathroom and i know all about stomach ailments but hey when I go in there afterwards, it doesn't smell that bad.
