If you want

incontrovertible proof that the world cannot be fixed. Just post something on "confessions" that everybody should be happy about . Say something like "income tax has been abolished" or "cancer has been conquered" and you'd still get a slew of downvotes. There's people in this world who you just can't make happy, no matter what you do or say

Still bullsh*t

If it's clearly fabrication or fantasy, it deserves to be slagged.
Much like all the corporate or government bullsh*t.
Even if it's warmfuzzy.
Hard enough to function in the age of information overload without someone adding more noise just to make people feel good. Fact-checking is not a nice-to-have.
Personally, I'll immediately downvote anything that is "a bunch of hippy-dippy baloney", to quote Lord Business.
Good intentions do not make fake news or fake anything else less fake. People who state silly things in public, NEED to be publicly ridiculed. To discourage other fools, grifters and madmen.

Why do you want to fix people or change them to be exactly what you want? Diversity is good. Wanting consensus on everything is what's wrong.

My suggestion is to give us the chance to select if we want comments on our post or not. Sometimes we just don't need "your" approval or disapproval. We just want to say something in cyberspace. But GS will never let that fly....

Why do you assume
