Cyclists, pay attention

It’s great there are more bike lanes around the city. I love riding my bike but I have to say, some of the cyclists here are the worst. I’m not perfect but try to follow the rules of the road, give people the right of way and not zoom by at top speed down a hill almost hitting into pedestrians and other cyclists. There are so many cyclists not following the road rules and it’s really dangerous and annoying. Many a time I have seen a pedestrian (me included) almost get run over by a cyclist when they have the right to walk across the road. It seems you need to rotate your head 360 degrees here to avoid collisions. Cyclists, you need to grow up. Drivers and pedestrians are not perfect either, but cyclists. Come on!

Another sigh

Anyone who’s been reading this forum for a while will know that we’ve pretty much beaten this subject to death. Can we not simply agree that there are ignorant people on bikes, in cars, and on foot, and move along? Please have mercy.

... as a pedestrian I have never been almost hit by a cyclist.

Cyclists here are fine.

The dead horse beatings, and the complaints, will continue until the behavior improves. Or disappears .
More likely until there's a crackdown by the authorities (one can dream, no?), which then hopefully leads to improvement and/or many fewer cyclists.
Personally, I'm very much hoping for that last eventuality. Confiscation, impoundment and destruction sound really good right now.
Just today, I saw a cyclist cut leisurely across the road ahead of me - four lanes of very busy traffic, about midway between two lights. He could easily have reached either intersection in about 30 seconds, just at the same rate he was moving. Cars swerving and hitting their brakes everywhere.
I really have neither empathy nor patience left.

The hypocrisy

Cyclists: We want the same rights as cars on the road

Lawmakers: Okay AND we’ll make you your own lanes to boot.

Cyclists: Great! Now we’ll ignore the rules that we don’t agree with like stopping at pedestrian crosswalks and stop signs.

It's ok. I have a note from the mayor: this town belongs to me and I may do whatever I please
