Maybe there should be a "I hate Vancouver" dating site?

At least these people can be miserable together....

... conversation with someone from another Canadian City. She was so oblivious to how badly she was slagging the natives. I like Vancouver, and I like Vancouverites, it's just everyone is from somewhere else and they treat Vancouver like it's their "I'm in the Big City Now" movie studio fairy-story.

We're all stuck here for different reasons, temporarily (one hopes). And will leave as our individual situations allow.
We don't hate the place (much).
We hate the lifestyle, the shitty people, the high prices, money laundering, corrupt politicians, lefty extremism, hippie self-righteousness, cliquey exclusivity, inconsiderate douchebags, traditionalism, puritanism, provincialism, pretentious philistines, anarcho-luddites, interminable wet cold ugliness...
And the love-it-or-leave-it attitude.
This list is not definitive.

Most of all, we hate other people telling us what we should do.
What does any of that have to do with romance?

But I don't hate Vancouver, just mostly the people in it and the things that they do that make things shitty. Was a nice, small town until 2010.

Yes!!

And how about a dating site for people who complain about dating here in Vancouver?

@Missing the point: Lefty extremism? Is it the horrible lefties ushering in the high prices, money laundering, and corrupt politicians?

It's been well over 150 times

I've been at a party,at work, etc and a transplant-almost always from Toronto- will start slagging Vancouver, how everything is better in TO/etc .
I always ask them "so why are you here,if (wherever) is so much better?" and they always get embarrassed and move away from me.

@agorilla
Did the lefty extremists JUST get here? Has the place been overrun by the PC all this time? What did I miss? /sarcasm

I skew slightly libertarian when I skew at all, and my political, social, monetary and fiscal views are rather nuanced. Skip it because out of scope.

These politicians were elected by the people who have lived here most or all of their lives. Unlike me - recent import as of six years ago and a noncitizen to boot. Can't vote, and won't stay so it doesn't matter.

Some of my family members and I worked in government tech services (on contract) for a while, so I got to see inside the beast.
Politics is mostly populated by panderers and demagogues. They're good at winning campaigns, and mediocre on their best day when it comes to governance. They're funhouse mirrors that reflect whatever the public wants to see. Their goals once in office are to line their pockets, get re-elected and do favors for people they like.
For shiny popular issues here they use the same sort of dog-whistle stuff as Trump, but it's lefty. In no particular order just while I've been here, I remember bike lanes, Islamophobia, pipelines, gender issues, LGBTetc., multiculti, overdoses, First Nations, drinking straws, tent cities, Occupy, food containers and much more likeso.
Meanwhile your social services suck, infrastructure is creaking, police are understaffed, courts are overwhelmed, healthcare is mediocre at best, ICBC is broke, prices are sky-high, laundered money is corrupting everything, people are getting priced out of living here, traffic is a nightmare, taxes and fees are high and rising, and the pols vote themselves raises.
This list is not definitive, but it gives an idea of just how ineffective the political leadership has been for the last 20 years. All the while BC has had a long and legendary history of lefty ideology. This is the birthplace of North American environmental extremism, after all.

They had to have played some part in it. They've been here all along. They weren't packed away in a box, in a shipping container somewhere...

I would be eternally grateful if all of the people that came here from elsewhere only to destroy the place and complain non-stop about how awful it is, would simply go back to wherever you came from. It was so much nicer before we welcomed the world and the world accepted.

@Missing the point: From the sound of it, you are what's wrong with this city. I find my own happiness; I don't expect everyone to be pleasant to me or hate them for it. Live and let live.
@Good One: Guess what? Not everyone agrees with you. I'm sure the Natives thought it was much better here before you arrive.
