Take a chance

I can't believe I finally got the guts to do it but.. there's this older woman in my building. She's about 45. I've been admiring her for about a year and the other night she was coming in the building. I some how got the courage to stop her in the hall and tell her I thought she was beautiful. We're going out tomorrow for dinner. This isn't so much a confession.. more so advice to say act on how you feel. I could have easily went back to my apartment but I'm so happy I said something. She told me she thought I was cute and had been curious about me for quite some time. I feel so lucky. Take a chance, you never know what could happen. Don't fear rejection because it's just part of life. Unfortunately for some, the fear of not being accepted or fear of being made a fool keeps them from excelling. You'll never know if you never try. I'm so excited for tomorrow.

Take more risks, that is.
All genders and age groups.
It probably won't kill you and may make you stronger, wiser and happier. Risk includes saying "yes" (hard) instead of "no" (easy) when opportunities present themselves (movie reference - "Yes Man").
And taking initiative often makes you feel powerful and in control.

But it isn't safe.
We live in an age where people are obsessed with safety and self-care and self-esteem and self-respect and self everything... But many of those same people practice crazy self-destructive habits (chemical and other) that will likely injure and/or kill them.
It hurts less when I don't try to think about it.

This is great, just great, for both of you. But of course, we all want to know how old you are?

A word of advice young man. What she very likely found attractive about you is that you had the maturity and confidence to step-up and tell her she's beautiful. You manned up. So don't now go on this date and disappoint her with immature and insecure behaviour. Relax and be yourself. Confident, not cocky. And please report back.

Hey guys.. I'm 27! I'll try to be as mature as possible. We really seem to click and she has a cute quirky personality. I would describe her as funky and chill. Such a cool lady! I'm stoked.
