Value

I'm getting so resentful of paying substantial amounts of good hard-earned money and receiving crap quality and service nearly everywhere here.

That's because everyone in the service industry works 2 jobs so they have the privilege to live in wooorld-claaass Vancouver.
Bubble valuations

That's how you know.
The prices get far out of sync with actual value.
Eventually the bubble pops and costs drop to something believable for the value received. Often they overshoot to the downside and you get a bear market, and a recession or depression.
Then quality, service and everything else gradually gets better again as business tries to raise prices, but now has to give value in return.
Rinse. Repeat.
Thus "economic cycle".
Except each time there's more money around (because fiat currency), so everything is more expensive over your lifetime, in terms of numbers. For the last couple of decades, long-term prices have been rising faster in Europe and North America.
Do you feel like a hamster in a wheel yet?

the people your mad at are the CEOs and stock holders of these companies; that's where the money goes instead of paying the people who actually do the hard work to deliver quality results.
