What Vancouver needs is ...

Wouldn't it be great if we had Ping Pong (table tennis) tables installed all around the city! Other cities do it, in Berlin for example, there's at least one in every park. I think it's a great idea and just what this city needs. And just what I need, I am getting fed up of playing on our dining room table in our tiny apartment.

Great idea

Except you know this wouldn't work in Vancouver. Within a day or two, one of our many upstanding crack heads would steal the tables to pay for their next fix.

There are a couple at Empire Fields. I think I have seen them used all of once.

Because of ideas like this one.
Vancouver (and BC, more generally) has MANY direly urgent issues that need to be addressed. And the provincial government is already neck-deep in debt. They even sold "dim sum" bonds (denominated in renminbi, naturally) for offshore investors, more than once.
Yes, BC owes money to foreigners. Billions.

Ping-pong tables. Bah.
Death is too good for you.

But

But this is still Vancouver, not Hong Kong. Isn’t ping pong a national sport in China or something? Maybe we should set up hockey or lacrosse nets on each block instead.

Yes, or puzzling tables. I have one I really want to start on but no table big enough.

oh, or how about real life confession booths! We could put them all over the city! Like 2 adjoining little private closets with a hole in the middle halfway up to talk through...
