Dedicated to the assholes of this world, who stop you in your tracks.

Heading home after work. It's pouring with rain, I'm damp, tired, and just looking forward to getting into my comfies(soft lounge clothes) at home, and cozying up to the fire. I'm a few blocks away, and this stranger stops me in my tracks to say, "You look tired. You should smile cuz there's no reason to be sad." Just when I start actually thinking I might be too serious and don't have a sense of humor, I realize I actually do. That, and quick smart ass answers, that leave those that fueled me to do it, realize that they are the annoying assholes of this world. "Fuck off! If all drivers had a huge smile plastered on their face, you'd think they were insanely scary or look ridiculous. Stop pissing strangers off by telling them what to do, and if you need to see everyone smile, go see a performance with only clowns in it. Would you still tell me to smile if I told you a close friend just died?"

It was a guy telling you that and you’re a woman, right? This should be taught to all boys before they hit puberty: DO NOT, under any circumstances, tell a woman who is a total stranger to you, to smile! It’s probably the most patronizing and obnoxious thing a guy can say to a woman. Seriously it’s just wrong, so don’t!

Never accept this

If you are a woman and a man asks/demands/suggests that you smile, NEVER DO IT. Us women are not here to please men and to appear that everything is ok. You don’t need to smile if you don’t feel like it, and never let a male tell you to smile. It’s completely sexist. Don’t play into it.

Should be taught to women as well

I suffered with cluster headaches and migraines for 15 years, couldn't go to university, couldn't hold down a full time job and I can't tell you how many women told me to cheer up and smile etc.
Men are not here to please women.
So if we've just been bankrupted or cheated on by a woman, lost our job,or have an invisible illness etc don't tell us to smile or cheer up,OK?

Ya butt

Why are you turning into a feminist thing?! It's not okay for ANYONE to say that to ANYONE.

Take your man bashing judgements elsewhere!

It’s because this is a very well-known obnoxious comment commonly made by men to women who are complete strangers. If you’re a guy then you wouldn’t know just HOW common, and how obnoxious it really is. As a guy, how many times have total strangers said that to you? Walking down the street, sitting in a bar / restaurant, at your workplace, wherever?

Hypocrisy again

Look above:
Women complain of men-thumbs up.
Guy complains about women-thumbs down.

Only in Vancouver. What is wrong with anyone asking about your well being? I am sure the person did not mean it in a sarcastic way. If they did then I agree. Maybe it was someone just being kind.
