Fingers in my ears

In the aftermath of THE GREAT WAR I blocked her email/social media for a year or so. Now many years later I wonder if she ever tried to get back in touch. I've always been too scared to make an attempt of my own but I still hope one day for the message that never arrives.

Seriously?
Years later? You're still waiting? Wow. I'm actually gobsmacked.
Maybe there's something in the water these days, that leaches the spine right out of people. I don't drink it (except Italian mineral and like that) so I wouldn't know.
This is just pathetic... What a (gender-nonspecific) tool.

Most likely not.

It never goes away

It can’t hurt to reach out if you really want to, and even if she might not see it in a good way. But you will get a measure of closure, at least. I tried to reach my flame and heard nothing. End of story. You learn to deal with it and ignore it any way you can.

Stop wasting you life thinking of her.

She wasn't that into you, and you gave her plenty of time to make herself available even if she had been.

It's not pathetic. It's complicated.

@mrpretentious
It's not pretentious, it's sensible.
When I run the hot water in this house, it turns white. Smells a bit off, too.
The house I lived in before (valued at $3m right now), had several boil-water advisories, in addition to all the other times that the water was brown or black or some other thing.
And the local paper ran a pic taken by a tenant of a multifamily building down the street. It was an open INTAKE pipe for his building, more than half-clogged with very curious brown-and-black slime.
And after the Flint, MI water scandal a few years ago, lab-tested water samples from a range of urban areas across North America showed all kinds of interesting things. None of which I want to ingest.
So drink water that is at least boiled. And preferably with other additives that will bind or destroy whatever may be in it. Or else something from an actual spring. Because purified water (Aquafina, etc.) contains microplastics, and municipal water has fun surprises.

As for this post, it's not complicated, it's pathetic. And neurotic. "THE GREAT WAR", really? In all caps, yet. And the "many years later" bit means this isn't even a teenager. Blocking social media, ooh, burrrn.
If you want to ask something, be a f*cking grownup about it and ask. This is a wonderful example of how impeding communication creates far more problems than it solves.
Contrived, ostentatious drama.

That was your biggest problem.

I saw footage of civil war veterans

From opposing sides meeting 50 some years later. They were friendly finally.
I have decided never to see you again. That would be too hard freakishly eerie. Like beholding a ghost

@isawfootage
Did I mention pathetic and neurotic? Let me add, melodramatic.
Were you ever in combat, or knew anyone who was? Did you even serve in the armed forces anywhere? War veterans. Wow. No. Uh-uh.
Whoever the other person is, never seeing you again would be a most glorious blessing.
