God Help Me x2

Yesterday was a bad day. Today was kinda good but bad as well. I got my phone working again. My truck isn't worth fixing, so I've been scrambling on how to get a new vehicle fast. I was up visiting my rich big brother the other day, and he told me if I ever needed him, no matter what it is, I could come to him for help. So I did just that today. Now my big brother he can be quite generous with people. This one guy that worked for his company, got into him for like a $100, 000 and never bothered to try and pay him back. My brother didn't bother to even subtract any of it from the guy's wages he pays him. This guy would also laugh and mock him behind his back too, as many others do. So anyways, I go to my big brother whom I love (I would fight, die, and kill if I had to for my big brother) to see if I could work out a loan with him for a new vehicle. $1000 a month for 10 months. Chump change to him. Money that he's been known to carry around in his pocket. My brother's answer... basically tells me to fuck off. Gee thanks bro, I love you too. I'll die before I ever ask him for anything again. And I can tell you, if he ever finds himself in a pickle and needs my help, I'm going to make sure he remembers this day.

My advice is do not seek revenge, succeeding is so much better.

I’m sorry to hear that things are going so badly for you. Buuuuutt....I have a feeling that your brother might have reasons for his response. I too have a younger brother. I’ve helped him out many, many times over the years. Let’s just say that he has “issues”. I finally decided that enough is enough and he’s on his own. He has other people in our family who have been supporting him forever. (Literally). I’ve realized that bailing him out, as well as a couple of other people in my life who I’ve always helped, isn’t helping him or them. Sometimes situations are happening for them that are entirely the result of their own bad decisions in life. Some people get so used to being bailed out when things are bad, that they never learn how to take care of themselves. If a person knows that someone is always going to be there to rescue them, where is their incentive to grow up and be responsible for themselves? So in my case anyway, I’ve had to learn to be tougher and not be swayed by the guilt trips and emotional blackmail. I’m not saying that this is the case with you and your brother, but there are always two sides.

You're technically an orphan if that's your brother.

I read your other post as well. You are flat broke, too poor to buy a new phone, one breakdown and your truck is in such bad shadow that it can't be repaired and you want your brother to float you a thousand dollar a month loan? Your brother has money because he isn't foolish enough to make deals like that.
Maybe get your head out of your butt and look at a truck that's going to cost less than $10k.

Honestly

Yesterday you couldn't even pay your phone bills and today you are trying to get an unsecured loan through a relative at a rate that you won't be able to live up to? Seriously, your brother did you a favor, sounds like the last thing you need is more debt. Time to check your priorities.

Yes I'm flat broke until payday. It's a new job I'm on, and I've had to wait 3 weeks until my first paycheck that will be this Friday. The job pays just fine. I can easily afford $1000 a month. But as far as my relationship with my brother, sometimes he likes me, and sometimes he doesn't. We have different fathers, and my father that I didn't really even know since my mom left him when I was 2 yrs old, was a very physically abusive drunk, that would smack him around quite often. I know part of him loves me, but the other part of him see's my father when he looks at me, and then he gets resentful.

I'm not taking "revenge". I'd help him, but I would be sure to remind him of the time he didn't help me when I really have could used it.

You dont need a car. They stink and are totally destroying the earth.

You should ask your brother

If he'll give you money for a transit pass. Unless your job is dependant on having a vehicle (and if it is, you may want to consider other employment options), the bus and skytrain can get you all around Vancouver.
