Hot daddy dude at Colony tonight

Our eyes met a number of times, before I noticed your wedding ring. I lost interest immediately after that. Afterwards, I saw you on the street passing by wth groceries, obviously for your family. Get your shit together.

Moral of the story:
When you go out, take off the ring. Unless you want to ostentatiously advertise that you're "off the market" (and then you must avoid any eye contact). Because too many people still insist on viewing others as potential property to own, or product to be obtained. You know, like chattel (terribly old-fashioned, but still, here we are).
As opposed to good company or interesting human beings... that would be so regardless of status, situation or circumstance, no?
To be sure, this advice applies overwhelmingly to married hetero men. It's only presented as a curious notion for anyone else. Married hetero women, especially, are woke and empowered, and should do whom they like, when and as they like.
Ah, so much to say about this. All of it bad.

Worse is

the men who chat you up, monopolizing your time and energy, who don't wear a wedding ring and then an hour into the conversation bring up an interesting vacation they are going on with their wife.

Stop flirting with me!

If you’re married or otherwise attached and you don’t wear a ring, kindly stop flirting with me and leading me on! I knew this guy that I regularly encountered through my work, who flirted outrageously with me both in person and by phone and email. I was excited because I really liked him a lot and he sure acted like he was interested in me too. Finally I let it slip to s

It's not about ownership; it's about partnership. I'm not interested in investing myself in someone who's already in a relationship with somebody else. Waste of time and energy with nothing in return. Only thing you can offer is casual sex, and I'm not interested in being the other woman. So, wear your wedding ring, and stop misleading single ladies.

Oops...

Further to stop flirting with me...(my hand slipped)...I told someone else in my industry that I really liked him and hopers he’d ask me out , and she told me that he was married. I was disappointed and pretty pissed off as well. Don’t waste my time to bolster your own ego!

"investing myself"
A curious choice of words.
So speaking to another human is an investment? I had no idea. Where I come from, people can talk to each other and it doesn't mean anything.
I'll banter with anyone. I was just at a supermarket in Oregon over the weekend, and this 75yo dude rolled up and chatted with me. It was pretty cool.
And it wasn't an investment. Just a conversation. When I speak with strangers, I get social interaction and learn new things. And when I only talk to people I already know, I rarely learn much. I don't even care if they're human - I'd talk to dolphins and octopi if I could figure out how.
Mating is not a priority for me. Horizontal refreshment is fun, but it's incidental and not high on the list. Not least because I like freaky, high-risk sex with dominant women and that's a niche market.
I won't be wearing a ring, even if I get one again. We all have to take chances. It's what life is all about. No one is safe or secure until they are dead.
But it's not likely to be a problem. I'll be around mostly foreigners anyway, ones that will talk to anybody just because. You know, like me.

You had no interaction with the guy, you looked at each other. You created a story in your own head.

Social proof and preselection

Are very well documented and studied phenomena, and both affect women at multiple rates higher than men.
Basically,if a guy sees a woman with a bunch of guys,he'll never think she's available and will never approach her.

But when ever a woman sees a guy with a group of women, she is attracted to him and will try to worm her way into that group to get closer to him.
Ironically-or not- the majority of women are attracted to a guy who appears taken, especially if wearing a wedding ring.
And almost all guys are not.
Women on here are taking the 2% of guys who don't care about wedding rings, and accusing all men of being that way.

This is...

... a very prudish/Victorian attitude, that a married man cannot have a side piece.
