Lame

If there's a word stronger than 'hate' then that's how I feel about rap and hip hop. I hear Eminem put out a new album that talks shit about other rappers. On one hand..great :) On the other hand...that's very lame. You're not suppose to make albums about your personal bullshit with other rappers. Do that on your own time. The music is for the people..the people who give you money. New low for the music industry that allowed the album to pass. If this isn't rock bottom for rap music then I don't know what is. Long live rock and roll

I'm 37 years old, and I've grown up with all these idiots around me obsessed with rap/hip-hop. Rappers don't even sing, they just stand on stage and blurt out profanities like the F-word and N-word with shitty machine music playing in the background. They give themselves stupid nicknames, and when they're not rapping about killing each other or demeaning and objectifying women, they're blithering about all the stupid shit they want to buy.
And yeah, this "rapper beef" crap where they insult each other is the most juvenile horseshit I've ever seen. These people are supposed to be badasses? They act like bratty teen girls in junior high.
I'm mostly a rock fan, and it broke my heart when I heard that rap/hip-hop sales surpassed rock music sales for the first time ever this year. Its depressing to know that you're surrounded by idiots with no taste in actual music. I enjoy most kinds of music, from the Ramones to Hank Williams to Lady Gaga. But I agree that "If there's a word stronger than 'hate' then that's how I feel about rap and hip hop." Well said my friend.

It’s called a Rap Battle

and it’s apart of the Rap Hip/Hop culture. Eminem is apparently the best at it.
If you don’t like it then ....

Lots of sub-genres in hip-hop. There's Christian hip-hop, too. Lots of rappers are out there rapping for social change. It's not all about the gang lifestyle.

It's ok that you don't get it

The beef is part of the culture. Rap was born out of the 4 elements of hip hop that essentially was a big part of the gang violence happening in the 80's that led to a cease fire of sorts. Not to mention its roots in spoken word and poetry. Most do not know this but Hip Hop is essentially comprised of 4 main elements, rapping(MCing), DJing, Graffiti(writers) and b boying or breaking. These methods would see different boroughs in New York come together to battle each other as a form of creativity over violence. It's ok that you don't get it, hell, I don't get top 40, country music or our culture around Instagram and constant narcissism . But hey, to each their own. Put your Celine Dion, Green Day, or perhaps Nickleback on, take a selfie and sit back and feed your simple minds... thats the beauty of life, it could take you forever to "get" it, or you may just die never knowing..

about the great new rock albums coming out. Oh right, there are none. Rock is dead.

You mean kinda like sweet home alabama/southern man by skynyrd and Neil young respectively.

Also, what can you expect from Eminem, he tried to make songs that were political statements, and it blew up in his face, he got exposed as a hypocrite.

Before that he tried to make grown up records a couple times but half of the music he put out was shit.

He's just stick in with what works.

@ it's called a rap battle.

No, what you're talking about is when two rappers are face to face, and they (mostly) free style.

What the OP is talking about is taking time to write, record, nd produce entire songs/albums dissing other rappers, with now real substance or purpose behind the record.

Well said, but that was the 80s and now its just all about money and showing off.

All kinds of music are good

A lot of modern artists also experiment with new types of music, mixing genres, etc. Too bad you're too closed-minded to appreciate variety.

AC/DC is coming out with a new album. Disturbed is too. How about Seether. Those are just 3 out of many. Rock is not dead. It's just dormant or unappreciated by all of your simple minds that need to hear one line of lyric said over and over and over and over and over and over and over and....
