No Brainer

Sure, everyone has their own opinions on bike lanes, but to spend even more money to take them out is just asinine.

It sure is. Not the way you mean, though.
The drivers of BC would very much like their lanes BACK. Vancouver was rated one of the top 10 most congested urban areas in the developed world several years back. It hasn't gotten better and the bike lanes helped make it worse.
More lanes make less traffic, congestion and accidents for motorists, who make up the overwhelming majority of travelers. Less costs created by all that, less productivity lost. Less emissions from idling engines.
Not to mention less cyclists, which I personally consider a win. On a good day, I see maybe a third of the cyclists using the bike lanes (there's one on both sides of this particular road, too). The rest use the sidewalk. Most of those disregard traffic signals, traffic laws, and yeah, the traffic, too. The pedestrians need to stand aside... or they get run over.
Less bicycles is better, and none is best of all.
A no-brainer, as you say.

Get off your asses.

Sure I’ll just ride in from east side of Coquitlam every day in the pouring rain-
Oh wait that’s 30 KM. Oh wait I can’t take it on transit unless I go to work at like 5 AM. Oh wait there aren’t many bike lanes outside of Vancouver. Oh wait I’m going to be soaked and exhausted before I even start my day.

Try living outside the core and see how long you bike. Dummies

Brilliant. Creative. Inspired.
The most clever thing I have read here all year.
Bravo.
No sarcasm intended.

Bikes are hands down the single best form of urban transportation and they keep you in shape, happy and saving tons of money. Get with the program and quit bitching about cyclists just cus we have more fun than you stuck in traffic every day.
