Parallel Parking

When I learned to drive, a gauge to when to cut your wheels to parallel park was to start at the parked car's back seat. That was when cars were basically sedans, but now with all the smartcars , huge pickups and SUVs, that whole system is useless. Oh yeah, and these non-standard sized vehicles all over really screw up viable parking spots for normal cars...

I think you just lost skill or need more practice. I parallel parked my F150 xlt the other day at my house and I did it perfectly using the same old way I’ve always known. Line your ass up with the other vehicles ass in front of the spot and then reverse and cut in. Fucking nailed it. It’s the one ‘hard’ driving skill I knock out of the park every time.

If you need some weird back seat line-up strategy you have no spatial awareness. Drive until you find a spot big enough to drive into without needing to parallel.

Supposed use the other cars back bumper as reference. Not the seat. Then it will always be the same.

Sedans and pick up trucks have always been around. At least for the 30 years I been paying attention.

when the space is big enough to just drive in without having to bother with reversing and cutting the car in.

practice a bit and learn to align some feature of your vehicle to the rear of the car behind which you're parking.
worked for me every time (except with a trailer; I need more trailer practice)
