Worlds Apart

I had a temporary job in Nashville for one year and after it ended I had to come back here and currently work a government job. Let me tell you these places are worlds apart. Nashville is a very Southern place and I will tell you the women are amazing. They really put Vancouver women to shame with how well they dress and how good they are at flirting. Just in a coffee shop or waiting in line at a store women will talk to you. Nothing major just small talk and its really natural and forced and these women are 8 to 10's wearing classy dresses and heels. There are just so many music events and things to do that you just run into women and I can't explain it but its really easy finding women to date. At work during my first week one of my co-workers invited me to their place for a barbecue on a Saturday for a football game. Basically rotated once a week for the college football games. I have lived in Vancouver essentially my entire life and I never get invited anywhere by a co-worker. Eventually I made so many friends. Every week I had 2 or 3 things to go to with people and my girlfriend. So now I am back and low and behold I am back to everyone complaining about real estate and bragging about how much money they have and how much they hate the rain. I am not saying Nashville is perfect but compared to Vancouver it has soul and heart and I need to go back because this place is sucking the life out of me.

Vancouver always seemed to be a place where unless you're a native they shit all over you.

More of this, just substitute "Nashville" for MTL, etc.
Some revelation.

I agree

The Carolinas,Florida,Gulf Coast, and in fact most of the US etc I can't tell you how many hundreds of times I've had women just chat with me. Sitting in Starbucks,on a bench at the beach,in a pub- wherever.
No Canadian flag on,just my usual friendly looking self. I am tall and good looking, but still.
Here: not one time, never, not once has any women ever approached me and started to chat.
What is it?

This place sucks the life out of everyone not just you. Can’t blame women for not talking to you in a line up, you don’t know the shit they’re going through and just can’t be bothered especially in this city

Female in her early 30s I could confidently say I wouldn't know what to say to strike up a conversation with a man I find attractive.
Would be awkward if he was taken too.

Is a soul sucking disgrace and a bland backwater village

I love Southern girls

So sweet and gentile. I freakin love the whole Southern Belle thing. Which I know is a lame stereotype and fraught with deep cultural context and prob a long history of repression and racism and sexism... But man, they are so hot. Those girls know a thing or two about charm, wit and grace. Which is pretty much non-existant around here.

Sigh... I miss my lil San Antonio Rose.

There lies the problem in general. Unless they’re “players”, most guys don’t have a bunch of pick up lines ready either. We’re making it up as we go, same as you. The point is to TRY. It can be as simple as a compliment on his shoes or something. Follow it up with “I think you’re cute”. Bam his attention is yours, because that’s more than most of us ever get.

I think guys should approach more often too, unfortunately most of us are shell shocked from many rejections and a general lack of apparent interest from women in public. That’s why I’m saying that as a woman, just making an effort is guaranteed to score you dates. Guys around here are way more spooked than you
