I know what you think when you see me.

I know you think I’m lazy. I’m sure you think I’m stupid. You might even believe I don’t care about myself. “Damn they would be so attractive if they just lost that extra weight”. You think I don’t see you stare. Ask yourself the next time those thoughts pop into your heads: do you have any idea what I’m going through? Do you know about the time I was raped? Do you know about the yo yo diets and years I have spent hating myself? I don’t need your pity. I don’t need you to feel sorry for me or guess or make assumptions. I just need you to remember I am a human being and I see you. You think you see me but you only see the surface. I am smart. I am warm. I am loved. I do take care of myself. I am doing my best. So step off.

Do you?

Unlikely.
I'm actually thinking, "Yo, yo'diet could use some very strict discipline, and many fewer simple carbs. Put the doughnut (and ice cream, chocolate, candy bars, plate of pasta, loaf of bread, can of full-sugar pop, cake, booze, narcotics, cigarettes, etc., etc.) down and nobody gets hurt. Except the corporatist conglomerates that make all this sh*t and shill it on TV. Oh, and swap most of your screen time for active measures, like walking."
The average person watches 4+ hours of screen a day, in addition to their job. Which is like a part-time job where you sit still and eat snacks without noticing it. What could go wrong?
And people over 60 average 8+ hours a day. How is it that they deteriorate so quickly? Conundrum...
Diets are bullsh*t. Change your life or learn to love your current state. Which deteriorates as you age, anyway, so why bother, amirite?

You didn't know what I was thinking after all.
But it's far more likely that I was lost in thought, and actually looked through you. Only noted your presence as an oddly shaped navigation hazard.
Vancouver has taught me to pay no attention to other people, unless I have some use for them. When in Rome...

Or maybe

Nobody sees you. Nobody cares. I've ordered the exact same lunch 9 days in a row from the same person. Followed by the exact same order from a coffee shop. I still have to order. There's no recollection of past happening at either establishments. It's always like they've never seen me before. Why? Because people are just trying to get through their day. They don't care about anyone else. Nobody cares if you're fat or sad or you have a pimple because you don't matter that much to them.

I don’t think that

Oct 26, 2018 at 11:12am

Firstly let me say that I’m so sorry that there are so many ignorant people who make you feel so badly. Just know that there are many of us who don’t think that about you, even if we’re not heavy ourselves. Some of the hardest working people I know struggle with their weight. Often the excess weight is due to a combination of factors that have nothing at all to do with being lazy or not taking care of yourself. Sometimes it’s genetic and some children are heavier from the day they’re born. I’m on your side and I’m not alone in that. The jerks are in the minority but because they’re jerks they’re usually mean and obnoxious as well, and therefore they make more noise. You are loved and you are respected; please know that in your heart.

People...

Oct 26, 2018 at 1:42pm

... tend to stare at people who look different. The same thing happens to tall men. It doesn't mean they're doing anything but going "oh, that's different." It's something you get used to if you're out of the ordinary.

If you have intrusive thoughts about people staring at you, that says more about your mental health than about them. They can point their eyeballs where they like, stop judging them!

You don't know what I'm thinking when I look at you.

In a post apocalyptic world you have better chances at survival when food becomes scarce, plus you have some cushin for the pushin which will come in handy when we need to repopulate the world wink wink, oh yeah baby... oh yeah! ;)
