It's hard being a survivor in the #metoo era

On one hand I'm happy people are being held accountable for their actions and I'm glad there's now a discussion on sexual assault, it's long overdue. But on the other hand you can never seem to get away from the painful reminders. You can't sit on the bus without seeing an ad for some sort of helpline, you can't read the news without seeing a headline related to the topic, you can't get away from people talking about highly publicized cases etc.. the list goes on. I'm coming up to the anniversary of my own rape, I'm counting years now and I have to say this is the hardest year. It's so easy to relive trauma through other people. I was one of the very few people that reported. Something inside you dies after rape but something dies again when you get the courage to report but end up being told there isn't much that can be done because it's nothing more then a 'she said he said' case. The world changed for me that day. I knew what happened to me, my scumbag ex knew what happened to me, even the fucking cop believed me but charges would just be impossible. I don't regret reporting though because there was measures put in place to make sure I'm safe, but to all the people that chose not to say anything - you did not make a wrong decision. It was a truly humiliating experience. I probably would have killed myself if I didn't have a good therapist at the time. So to all you other survivors out there - walk bravely. And remember you don't owe anyone your story.

I've had major trauma in my life. Quite a lot, and enough to have learned that post trauma I personally want nothing to do with the fake "caring" health system which in the past has not only not cured me but made me worse.

Suck it up, sadly seems to be the best advice. Unfortunately there are dark leftist forces who wish everyone to "come clean" such is their warped anti-christian yet overhwelmingly puritan ethos.

After working for 15 years and tons of over time to pay off my house, then my wife of 3 months divorced me and I had to sell it and give her half.
If that had not happened,I'd be a multi millionaire and have retired a couple years ago. Now,I'll have to work till I'm 60. Same thing with my brother, and many of our friends.

Thanks...

For posting this. You have summarized this really well and helped me to see why I've had trouble with this movement too. Not trouble as in "I don't support this" but the same trouble you describe in that it is painful to relive and be reminded over and over. There's no easy answer and no right answer. I guess we all just keep doing the best we can.

Thank you.

It’s pretty obvious why she divorced you and obviously you’re not telling the whole picture because no way would our courts award 50% of all assets to someone who was only with the person for 3 months. Maybe you’re forgetting about several years you were common law perhaps? As a former legal professional I know absolutely that what you’re saying is complete horseshit. Or should I say muleshit because you’re clearly an ass.

"It’s pretty obvious why she divorced you"
Why are you using an ad hominem attack? You know nothing of me.

I can do the same for you though: you obviously never worked in the legal profession, and with that attitude it's no wonder you never found a man to love you.

Was not in BC, she lied a lot,and a female judge. It's amazing you think you know the laws for every country and state in the world.

Where did your divorce happen? What’s the name of the female judge? What was the justification for the ruling? What were some of the lies your wife said in court?

So what if she lived with him for a year? If HE paid for the house,if HE paid for the insurance,if HE paid the mortgage why should she get a single penny? If anything, she owes him money for staying there rent free.
This happened to me,luckily I had the house in an LLC and she couldn't touch me.
And yes,I (and all guys) would definitely take a 3 minute rape over losing most of my life's savings to an ex GF
