Job search and destroy (yourself)

I've been looking for a job for months. Constantly dealing with incompetent HR, owners, or whoever is tasked with bumbling through the same 5 questions used across every industry. I cant fathom how these people have jobs, let alone being the gatekeepers of people willing to work. Vancouver's work scene is the worst I've ever experienced. 20 year old company's that call themselves a Startup, Startup's that have no idea what profits look like, or tech companies that are trying to hock an outdated product. Here's hoping for a change.

Your skills in spelling and grammar could use some improvement. So perhaps you could accept some friendly advice before your next visit with HR during your job search? Friendly reminder - indicating a plural is not done with 's. :-)

This confession was depressing to read.

Seriously - if you are talking with HR people, it sounds like you are getting interviews! How are your cover letters and resumés getting noticed? You must have some skillz!

Just so you know...your contempt for the interviewers and their companies is likely showing through. I have interviewed hundreds amd hundreds of people and you can quite often spot the potential problem employees. The good news? The change you are hoping for is controlled by you changing your attitude and your approach. Good luck in your job seaech.

Job interviews are the worst!

The reason you are probably mystified by how little the HR people seem to know is because they usually just do the sifting through of candidates, then turn those candidates over to a manager to then interview and rank. The manager usually handpicks 2 associates with equally 0 HR experience, so the whole thing comes off as disorganized and the interviewers don’t seem to know what they need to be asking or what they are looking for. The managers are supposed to get briefed on proper staffing techniques, but they treat the whole process as an annoyance off the side of their desk. So ultimately, the process seems hokey because the only people you meet from it aren’t in fact from HR, they just get advice from HR they don’t follow :)

The person’s phone probably autocorrected the apostrophe in... it wasn’t a grammar mistake, it was an autocorrect. Your advice is smug and needless

HR exists to give women and whiners (but I repeat myself) a Teacher to complain to. HR exists to screen employees who they think will be the subject of whining. Your goal with an HR interview is not to demonstrate competence, etc. it is to "make friends" with the interviewer. If he has a picture of a fish on his desk, you say "wow, that's a great fish, where are the good spots around here?"

They're checking you for ability to fit in to their "corporate culture," read "make appropriate small talk," they're not checking your business credentials. If you get the interview, you have the job unless HR thinks you don't know how to behave like a slave.

What I think of you can’t be printed here. Suffice to say that males like you are one of the main reasons that so many women think men are total jerks. I’m thinking that you haven’t gotten laid in a VERY long time.
