... are a crass authoritarian. Who cares if someone rides the bus without paying? The bus is running anyway. And as for the driver, he's not supposed to say anything because it's not his job and because people have a right to use the bus---there's actually no law allowing people to be ejected for nonpayment, they can only be issued a ticket. They cannot legally be removed from the bus for non-payment. There's even a provision stating that failure to comply with an order to leave the bus involves a fine, there's nothing that says "a peace officer may use all necessary force to evict someone."

I agree, but at least the back doors allow all the fucking angry and drunk construction workers to bypass the bus driver, thereby minimizing the chance of an altercation.

As someone who rarely takes a bus I wasn't even aware you weren't allowed to do that that's generally how I get on. Maybe translink should put up a sign, or maybe they can hire you and you can become a loser cruiser security guard save them 2 bucks at a time.

Some stupid people do it all the time but they get away with it because most drivers don’t care.
