Sure most people could do many things. We live in a complex society so not everyone is going to have time or aptitude to do everything. On the macro scale this is why modern civilisations have specialized skills. On the family level not everyone is going to be able to help their kids with biology homework and bike repair and do the taxes. Eventually something's gotta give. Thus the value of interdependence. Sure DIY is great but working together is important too.
