Tired of useless crap at Christmas?

Buying eachother presents that will just go to the back of the closet then thrown away? Consider donating to a homeless charity or thrift shop. Your buck will go a long way and you never know who it'll help at the right moment. During your next trip to Costco get a few extra pairs of socks or toiletries & drop em off somewhere they'll be put to good use.

... a couple of weeks to make a whiskey-soaked fruit cake to give to people! That's not useless crap.

Maybe if they gave more gifts to people they wouldn't be homeless?

Most of the crap we buy at Christmas will be in the dumpster within a couple of years. Sadly, we went from an economy where we made things to an economy based on us buying useless imported crap from China.

Get a gift from me and I expect you to at least pretend to be interested. On the other hand, if you start telling me how to better spend my money..... I'll help you find the door, and baby, it's cold outside.

Good suggestion OP

Though we don't have the problem of giving/receiving stuff we don't want with my family because we let each other know things that we'd love to receive weeks in advance.

I stopped buying Christmas gifts a while ago. My husband and I celebrate Christmas with friends and we all agreed to skip the gifts a few years ago. Instead, we meet at someone's house and everyone brings a dish and some booze. After all, Christmas is about spending quality time with the loved ones instead of buying made in China crap at the mall.

The trick is to give people stuff they actually like / can use.
