It's sad..

That's there's such evil people out there who will hate you simply for who you are, without even knowing you as a person.

Unless it's race based

They can't hate you for who you are, if they don't know who you are. Obviously you have shown them enough about yourself for them to hate you.

Maybe you're an asshole?

Use your words

For WHAT you are, not for who you are.
For example, if someone is a bully, liar, sadist, flake, thief, fraud, egotist, thug, stoner or hipster (you know I had to), that is their "what". People will hate that "what". This someone may be a pretty and kind stoner and/or hipster. They'll still be disliked despite being pretty and kind. Or maybe because of it - the appeal is misleading because the someone is still fundamentally sh*tty.
Some egotism, or example, is obvious from a very long ways away. That may be a very polite and sophisticated egotist (uncommon except higher up in media, politics or business), but once identified as an egotist, they'll be despised. As they should be.

Don't matter

Recruiting is real

It's just like in high school. If there's a new student, the people who bullied me recruited her to join them. They told her what to believe about me. She chose to not do her own research. I do understand, because that was her way of protecting herself. Most anybody who got caught being nice to me was bullied, so people learned quickly which side to take. I do find that guys are braver in this respect. Most of my friends were guys because they're not afraid to think for themselves and go against the grain.

I had a coworker who decided on my second day on the job that she hated me, because over the course of an innocent conversation on my first day, I let slip that I did not have children. That was it. I was an eager beaver trying to be nice to everybody. I guess I was an easy target.

Knowing basic self defence works wonders over 90% of the time.

Unhappy people lash out at the wrong things in life. Lashing out at a person is easy because ultimately we feel politically disempowered. If we were empowered politically are focus would be on politicians or oligarchical corporations but they're not so they become a#@holes.
