Orwell was right on he just got the name wrong...

When I read 1984, I thought Orwell was too negative and that our society would prevail in a positive way. Turns out that he was right, however instead of the all seeing, all knowing, omnipotent "Big Brother" controlling everything it's cellphones & the internet...........sad but true.

The internet is a window to the world for me personally. I find Vancouver so provincial I feel like I'm falling behind in what's happening around the world politically or whatever? If you feel like you're being spied on you can use a VPN, Tor browser or Tails operating system. Riseup VPN is free and easy to configure if you're on a tight budget, but it's slow. You can use the internet anonymously.

With these technologies "big brother" collects information on you and monitors everything you do. Don't confuse the tool for the craftsman.

I liked Brave New World better

though it kind of fizzled out near the end.

But 1984 was a pretty trippy year for me
and also the year a certain man I think of as tloml
was born.
