52 year old woman

I was told it was going to happen. And it has. I love being invisible. No one looks at you or even gives you the time of day. Kind of refreshing.

Works for men, also. So much less drama in life.

It's like being a sub8 male at any stage of life beyond toddler!

Haha, great post

See, there are advantages to getting older.
And in 3 short years, you’ll get 20% senior discount at Shoppers on Thursdays.

Like when we were so young just starting out before acquiring friends with their attendant pressure and glare

I’m on the verge of that

AND IT FEELS SO GOOOOOOOOD! Man, what a relief it is to not be unwillingly consumed. Men used to warn me about being invisible - - which only furthers the idea of women being currency under their “valuable” gaze. And it sure as fuck isn’t. This has been a glorious transition. I love it! “You’re gonna miss being catcalled when you’re too old to get attention anymore...!” Child, PLEASE. You’re assuming the only way I feel human is being eye-fucked by trogdolytes? Get real. I finally get to be my truest self because I don’t have to worry about assholes steaming up my tail!

and the people who pay attention

Not always

You wouldn't enjoy being invisible at work because you're too young/old or a woman or part of a minority group. You also wouldn't enjoy being treated like a number by sales representatives because you're too old or not pretty enough. You're lucky that for 50 years of your life, people looked at you and gave you the time of day. Some of us never got that chance.

Who are not 6 feet tall, not dressed stylishly all the time, not good looking nor super fit, not upwardly mobile, nor with perfect diction etc etc.
When your old it'll be fine,I guess. But when you're younger- not so much.

?

Not sure I understand the celebration.

If you are implying that women are not attractive after 52 , not accurate and very sexist.

Already happened

I've been invisible all of my life (and I'm not a man). There's freedom in being ignored, because it means people can't be bothered to form an (unfavourable) opinion of me. I can dance in the front row at a concert and not worry about being judged. I can over-dress (by Vancouver standards) however I want. And if people are going to avoid me when they think I'm weird, I may as well have fun in this life. It's easy to dance as if nobody's watching when nobody cares enough to watch.
