Never had a Valentine's Day
posted February 14th, 2019 at 2:19 PM
I'm almost 34 years old and I've never had a Valentine's day, even when I happened to be dating someone around this time of year. I know this isn't really important but I feel sad that I've never even received a single rose on this day. Yes, I know there are bigger things in life, than February 14th, but it is depressing to a certain extent. I remember a particular Valentine's day when I was in a long term relationship and I had hand painted a card for my bf and he hadn't prepared a thing for me. Even a tiny little flower. I know this is really stupid but I still find this day upsetting, even if it's just a commercial holiday.

I’m in my late 20s and I’ve also never had a Valentine’s Day. When I was in a relationship I didn’t want to seem “demanding” so I said it wasn’t a big deal (I still did something nice for him and was hoping for some small gesture, but no). Now that I’ve been single for a couple of years I try to mostly ignore it, but it’s hard because it’s so commercialized and every store you walk into is bursting with pink. I think if I’m ever seriously dating again I’ll make it clear I want to do something special - if someone dismisses you as “demanding” for that they probably aren’t worth your time anyway.

... I've never had a girlfriend. It looks fun in the movies. Happy Valentine's day!

That's sad two years, my relationship ended just as long ago. I was a cowardly asshole, I told her something I was sure would put a wall between us. I wish I could say it was the last time cowardly was my play , it was not :-(

A traditional valentines day? Cause I can whip you with sacrificed goat and dog hides, to increase fertility, then shack up for three days.

I was in a relationship a few years ago with a girl who didn't want us to celebrate Valentine's Day. Instead, we had an anti-Valentine's Day with her friends. What I didn't know was she was married (yes, married) to one of her "friends" and they had an open relationship (on her insistence; he wanted monogamy but was such a spineless wimp that he agreed with whatever she wanted to keep her happy). She never told me about this relationship - they both kept it secret from me and found out later. The anti-Valentine's Day thing was her throwing a bone to him: he got to spend Valentine Day with her. Pretty much destroyed any ideal I had of romantic love. Happy Valentine's Day!

I am also alone on Valentine's Day. I haven't really had a valentines Day either even though I was married for many years. He was not interested in celebrating this holiday. I am sitting her trying to be positive and count my blessings but I am a little sad. Hate this holiday.
