Tidying Up

I can't sympathize with couples in Marie Kondo's Tidying Up show. They made the decision to get a huge house, have 2-3 kids and get a LOT of stuff around and then they complain their house is too messy. And, of course, they always blame it on the house, as if the house is an entity that made decisions for them. Your life is overwhelming because you made it that way and your messy house is just a reflection of your poor decisions.

It's surprising how little you really NEED. I live out of an 8 kilo backpack. I have a bed now, but for the past 6 years I didn't. It's all bourgeoisie accumulation. I like to watch storage wars occasionally and be reminded that everything we collect will one day be the refuse a bunch of scavengers pick through.

A good friend was having depression and prescription drug abuse issues plus selling his parents townhouse. He got overwhelmed and hired a "de-cluttering " expert. Other friends and me were there to help move his "keepers" to his new apartment.

That woman and her staff de-cluttered truckloads of valuable stuff away (to the Sally Ann -- Yeah right) for her own profit. In addition, friend #1 promised boxes of very expensive hiking boots (he had a retail therapy habit) to friend # 2 Guess what? De-cluttering expert lady disappeared them.

Poor decisions...

You know like having children... I swear I'm going to stop reading confessions. The only people on here anymore are people who look down on anyone who has children. Honestly, is Vancouver only for single people? Should families just disappear and fade away in shame?
