Irksome

I don't trust the HR at my new job. It's hard to say why, but I just get the very distinct impression that even if I had been with the company for a decade, she would NEVER be on my side (or anyone's), under ANY circumstances - not even if, god forbid, I had to take sick leave. It's irksome.

You are correct in not trusting HR staff

They are , for the most part, BA rejects that have no real skill set.

Human resources

They're not on the employee side nor are they a neutral party. They are on the company side only.

You're right

They are there for the company, not for you.

Get real

As @Human resources said...the role of HR, besides explaining company policy, it to find diplomatic ways to flush out anyone who does not fit, and to ensure any dysfunction is covered up to save the company from any liability. They do not care for your well-being. Sorry you didn't know that.
Your best protection is to document everything the moment something seems off, offensive, hypocritical, dysfunctional...you get the idea. Keep detailed notes, even if it looks like things get resolved. Abuse is in cycles, and companies are no different. Detailed notes with days, times, quotes, witnesses...details documented...will make the difference between self-preservation versus being caught off-guard.

Please!!!

Hell I don’t even the Union in my job either. They’re all about money and power.

Hey HR.

Just wondering what your out lined parameters are, where do you have an opinion. When do you put a label on right/wrong fair/unfair is that a area you can see. Or is your job and your office way the f over in say Switzerland. This could be an understandable piece, I mean how could you see a side of that which you stand for through a wall of neutrality. It's been said those who stand for nothing, will fall for anything. Now of course this does not apply to Switzerland they are a sovereign nation they maintain a sovereign right not to fight offensively but rather in defense of. I have no opinion on that, except to say I'm a firm believe in the best defense is a very solid and crippling offence. This is an only when nothing else will result in a peaceful solution. Still HR is by definition is not a shoulder to cry on. No quite the contrary, it's actionable office of accountability, where and when an employee is to step out of line or move into a harassing behavior this office is expected to say that's NOT OK! or this is a bit of a over reaching complaint. So wtf! you never decide to side? Please HR let me know if I can help, I have no experience to speak of. I'm a very quick study and will give a situation close to the vest every single bit of my loving and caring empathy i can muster. Still I guess we could just keep shooting at each other until god forbid one of us is struck and killed. That very sad and final day even our God will be shedding his/her tears of sadness . #stopsillyrabbitscaremorelovemore
