With friends sure. But with everyone...? It's exhausting and ultimately a divisive train of thought. I say pick your battles.

For sure, we have to pick our battles. But I'm surprised you find applying kindness exhausting, and I'm not sure how it's divisive. At the right place and time, it's usually healing.
I wonder what scenarios you picture. Isn't it about the simple things like letting someone with a heavy load go ahead in line, or stopping really briefly to ask, hey, are you OK, if someone looks like they are in trouble? Or even just avoiding some of the judgements we tend to dump on other people. What's divisive? Just curious.
